No plans To Assassinate You

The Caretaker Chairman of Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA of Bayelsa State, Mr Inemo Oruebimiekumo, has warned an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart from the area, Mr Preye Aganaba, against spreading rumours that there were plans to assassinate him.

Mr Aganaba had, earlier in the week, circulated a press release on Facebook, alleging that he received credible information that plans had been perfected to eliminate him ahead of the forthcoming governorship polls in the State.

But the council caretaker chairman, Mr Oruebimiekumo, in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Ineikonugha Peletiri, and made available to our correspondent, described Mr Aganaba’s allegation as bearing ” the mark of utter falsehood just as it emanated from a mind that can hardly tell the difference between delusion and reality. ”

Mr Oruebimiekumo, a legal practitioner of over three decades, said, “It is sad that Mr Aganaba who is also an indigene of the LGA is attempting to demarket his own people through that baseless press statement he circulated on social media.

“It cannot be controverted that since Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA was created about 27 years ago, it has not witnessed any political violence resulting in loss of limbs or lives, or even properties by which reason it is adjudged as the most peaceful, ” he noted.

The chairman described the LGA as the benchmark for peace in the State, especially in electoral seasons during which high scale violence was witnessed in some parts of the State, adding that it worrisome for an indigene of the LGA to accuse the people of being after his life.

According to him, “This claim is nothing short of his desire to attract undue attention to himself even as we approach the November 11 governorship polls.

“The said Preye Aganaba has only one vote and in all the governorship elections held in the state, he has been a perennial failure as he has always failed to mobilize more than one vote. Certainly, that one vote cannot be a threat to the PDP to such an extent that it will condescend to target his life.

“Facts on ground in the LGA show clearly that the APC will fall flat on November 11 as the people of the area, aside Mr Aganaba and his co-travellers on this inglorious journey, have resolved not to be co-tenants with failed politicians who only resort to violence.

“Political violence has never been part and will never be part of the agenda of the peace loving Kolga people, ” the statement added.
