Bayelsa state FRSC caution driver’s on Overloading and speeding, don’t drink while driving

 ahead of Eid-el-kabir celebration

The Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) Bayelsa state sector commend under the  leadership of Mathew O. Egbe, have been working tirelessly to address the pressing issue , using of trailers to convey passengers, the corps introduce some key safety initiatives to tackle the menace in the state.
In a press conference “Egbe  emphasized on  the importance of collaboration with the Nigerian Bar Association and state judiciary for timely prosecution of drivers  and vehicles owners caught, contravening established traffic regulation like over loading.
“Stating that this would help in the effective management of traffic and reduce the risk of accidents on the roads, some of this driver are under the influence of alcohol and other substances, since the commencement of JTF in 2023, the monster of road crashes involved trailers.
He assured the public that the FRSC is working closely with relevant authorities, JTF has successfully arrested of a total number of 2440 Passengers, who were mandated to take alternative vehicle.
 “Further states FRSC enforcement including over 200 mobile court operations, with the aim of checking the following offences,lane indiscipline,route violation, road obstructions, overloading, seatbelt, child restraint use violations, passengers manifest violation.
Others include mechanical deficient and rickey vehicles, loading of trailers with passengers, Illegal use of the spy plates number, to achieve this over 743, patrol vehicles 284 administrative vehicles,92 ambulances,23 tow trucks and 144 motorbike being deployed as part of the logistics.

This campaign aimed to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on the roads, particularly during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations when there is an increase in road usage those in attendence was, TOAN Bayelsa state chairman pastor Sylvanus Chidindu Onovo, RTATI chairman Vincent Odede, among others.
