IYC protests against neglect of East -West road, urge FC to act

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, led by her President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, staged a peaceful protest on the East-West Federal Road, decrying the neglect of the critical infrastructure by the Federal Government.

The protest, which drew hundreds of Ijaw youths, aimed to bring attention to the deplorable state of the road and its adverse impact on the Niger Delta economy.

IYC zonal leaders accompanied Lokpobiri in the demonstration, which coincided with widespread complaints from drivers and passengers about the road’s poor condition.

The protesters called on the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to take immediate action to complete the East-West Road.

They emphasizing that the region could no longer tolerate the neglect. The IYC’s ultimatum comes as a clarion call for the government to prioritize the development of the Niger Delta region.

“The neglect of the East-West Road has led to increased travel times, accidents, and economic hardship for residents and businesses in the region.

“The IYC’s protest highlights the urgent need for the Federal Government to address this critical issue and fulfill its promise to complete the road.
