NUJ BAYELSA HOLD PRESS WEEK FROM MONDAY

The Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ holds its 2023 Press Week with the theme “Expanding Media Knowledge for a Better Information Management in the Niger Delta.

The event is one of the state council programmes to engage media professionals and contribute to the development of the state.

The Chairman of the occasion is Chief Collins Cocodia, Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Political Matters.

His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State is the Special Guest of Honour while His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewrhudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State is the Guest of Honour.

The Royal Father of the Day is His Royal Majesty, King Dumaro Charles-Owaba, Obenobhan the 111 of Ogbia Kingdom and the Keynote Speaker is Prof. Barclays Ayakoroma, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, University of Africa, Toru-Orua.

The State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Duba, is the Chief host and Comrade Samuel Numonengi, Chairman NUJ Bayelsa State Council is the host.

Other personalities expected to grace the event includes Mr. Ebitei Tonyon, Commissioner for Power, Bayelsa State, Chief Hon. Robert Enogha, CEO, Ayalla Group of Companies, Mr. Ebi Egbe, CEO, Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd and Prof. Dimie Ogoina, Chief Medical Director, Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital.

Others are Prof. Ongoebi Etebu, Former Vice Chancellor, Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, and Hon. Peter Akpe, Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa. CP Tolani Alausa, Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Police Command, and Mr. Chris Nwaogbo (SP), Commander, Operation Puff Adder, Bayelsa State Police Command.

The event will commence on Monday, 21st August 2023 with an enlightenment walk from Peace Park to the NUJ Press Centre, Azikoro Road, Ekeki by 7 am.

Tuesday, the 22nd are indoor games at 10 am at the NUJ Press Centre.

Wednesday, 23rd
Indoor Games continue at the same venue.

Thursday 24th is
Novelty Football Match between the NUJ Football Team and the All Stars International Football Club of Yenagoa by 4 pm at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa.

Friday, the 25th is Journalists Relax with some stakeholders in the state at the NUJ Press Centre by 2 pm while Saturday, 26th
is the luncheon/Awards and Public Lecture at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Onopa by 10 am prompt.

The event will round off with a Thanksgiving at The Redeemed Glory Family Church
No. 36 Redeemed Glory Road, Agudama-Epie by 11 am on Sunday 27th August.

A statement by the Chairman Organizing Committee Comrade Ogio Ipigansi and Secretary Comrade Ebinimi Zitimiyola urged practicing journalists in the state to participate fully in all scheduled events lined up for the 2023 Press Week.
