Bayelsa LGA poll’s Diri, chairmanship candidate, others express satisfaction with conduct of exercise

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairmanship candidate, Mrs. Alice Allen Tangi, other stakeholders, on Saturday commended the state independent electoral commission, BYSIEC, for the organisation of the Local Government election in the state.
The Bayelsa governor who spoke to journalists shortly after voting at 10.15am alongside his wife, Dr Gloria, at his Kalamaowei wari unit 4 ward 6 in Sampou community, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, said reports available to him indicated that the poll was generally peaceful across the state.
He expressed the optimism that the PDP will emerge victorious in the 105 wards of the eight local government areas as it was the only party with wide acceptance and vigorously campaigned across the state ahead of the election.
He said: “PDP enjoys the support of the people and judging from the outcome of the November 11, 2023 governorship election, our party will still take the upper hand.
 “As you have seen, the voting process was peaceful and seamless and l think if this is the way it is in every other unit and ward, then we expect a peaceful and successful local government election to usher in a new leadership at the third tier of government.
According to the PDP Chairmanship candidate in Sagbama Local Government Area, Mrs Alice Allen Tangi, said the smooth conduct of the exercise in the state was a true reflection that the PDP is the only party that is love and appreciated by the people.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after casting her vote at Agbanabiri/Kingpolo Town Hall, Torubeni ward 12, unit 09, “Since 1999 to date, we usually have the most peaceful election in the community since there are no opposition. We always speak in one voice in support of the party’s choice.
“The whole place is calm and peaceful, this is a PDP dominated area, we no course for alarm. The people are solidly behind the party”
I am from the community and the support is massive because of my antecedent as a former leader of Sagbama legislative council and my legacies, I believe with the support of the people I will fulfill my mandate when elected.
Dr Tangi Ebimobowei,a native and a chieftain of the PDP, who thanked the governor for finding the candidate worthy to fly the party’s flag, stressed that through the candidate the Local Government is now unified and all party’s had resolved to work for the victory of the PDP candidate.
The PDP Chieftain says the PDP candidate if elected into office has all it takes to bring transformation to the Local Government due to her track records especially when she was a leader of the Great Sagbama house for her impactful contributions.
He further prayed for God’s guidance upon her, as well advised her to continue with the good works she’s doing and know for.
A former Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area, Hon Barnabas Edure, after voted at unit 1, Ward 12  Toru Beni Town in Sagbama LGA, described the process as free and fair, while commending Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC, for the peaceful process.
According to Edure, there’s no contending candidate in the Local Government, stressing that PDP has already taking the day from the votes already casted so far.
On the issue of security, the former chairman of Sagbama LGA, commended the security agencies for ensuring that there’s no violence as there were also no issue of ballot box snatching.
